imberline Custom Homes, Inc., headquartered in Highland, N.Y., is a medium-sized general contracting firm, wholly owned by Stephen M. Schmitt. In business since 1979, Timberline Custom Homes was incorporated in 1987.

The company specializes in high quality residential remodeling, historic restoration, and the construction of a small number of very custom homes.  Timberline has a full time designer on staff and currently designs over 80% of the projects they undertake on a yearly basis.  Timberline currently employs a field crew of eight craftsman including a ceramic tile specialist, expert painter, and a cabinetmaker.  Timberline has aligned themselves with some of the best trade contractors and suppliers in the area to bring a true “team” approach to the building process. Timberline Custom Homes' accounting and estimating systems are completely computerized. A full time office manager and an in-house project coordinator keep things running smoothly.

Stephen M. Schmitt has been awarded the Certified Graduate Remodelor™ Certification and the Certified Graduate Builder™ Certification by the Board of Governors of the National Association of Home Builders.  The CGR and CGB certifications stand for professionalism, experience and commitment to quality construction.  Currently, only 18 remodelors and 14 builders have earned these designations in New York State; and only 5 remodelors and 2 builders in the Hudson Valley. 

As president, Stephen Schmitt believes that his firm's craftsmanship, honesty and integrity have led to its solid relationships with past customers, as well as an impeccable rating among suppliers, subcontractors and lenders.
